What if the centrifugal pump is evacuated?
In the practical application of a centrifugal pump, there will always be various conditions. One of the many reasons for the failure of the centrifugal pump when the phenomenon of evacuation will always make everyone feel very headache. What if the centrifugal pump is evacuated?
After pump evacuation or during the evacuation
1)The vibration of the pump body is large, and the dynamic and static rings of the mechanical seal will continue to collide intermittently, resulting in leakage. In serious cases, the mechanical seal structure will fail;
2)The compression of the dynamic and static rings of the mechanical seal is the sum of the medium pressure and the preload of the spring. When evacuated, the medium pressure will disappear, the contact pressure of the dynamic and static rings will become smaller, and the seal will fail;
3)After the pump is evacuated, the end faces of the dynamic and static rings of the mechanical seal adopting the self-flushing scheme (i.e. flushing with the pumped medium) lose cooling and lubrication, and dry friction occurs, and the mechanical seal fails.

Causes of evacuation
- Air leakage occurred at the inlet of the centrifugal pump.
- The inlet of a centrifugal pump is blocked.

- The medium temperature at the inlet of the centrifugal pump is too high, and the saturated steam is too large.
- The inlet valve of a centrifugal pump is not opened or the valve core falls off.
- The outlet opening of a centrifugal pump is too large (small).
- Centrifugal pump seals oil with water.
- The liquid level in the centrifugal pump tower or container is low or there is no liquid level.
- The impeller or inner-wear ring of a centrifugal pump is seriously worn.
- The centrifugal pump motor reverses.
Evacuation corresponding treatment method
- If there is air leakage at the inlet, stop the pump and check the leakage inlet pipeline and flange of the centrifugal pump.
- If the inlet is blocked, stop the pump, check the leakage inlet pipeline and impeller of the centrifugal pump, and conduct maintenance after purging.
- If the inlet pressure is not enough, the liquid level back pressure should be increased.
- If the inlet medium temperature is too high, reduce the medium temperature and vent the steam in the centrifugal pump.
- If the inlet valve is not opened or the valve core falls off, open the valve or replace the pump for maintenance.
- If the outlet opening is too large (small), the opening of each valve should be adjusted appropriately.
- If there is water in the sealed oil tank, the sealed oil tank shall be dewatered.
- If the liquid level in the tower or container is low, the outlet valve of the centrifugal pump should be turned down temporarily or the pump should be stopped, and it should be recovered after the liquid level rises.
- If the impeller or inner grinding ring is worn, it should be replaced in time.
- If the motor reverses, the steering should be adjusted in time.
